What are photowalks?

Photowalks is an initiative combining walks and photography, where people at different levels of initiation have the opportunity to visit different places. These are usually limited groups of photography enthusiasts who gather in a selected place and time to photograph together. Some of these events are supported by partners who provide photographic equipment that can be tested in action. Photowalks also establish interesting cooperation, thanks to which we had the opportunity to visit such places as Warsaw tram depots or PKN Orlen petrochemicals in Płock.

Photo walk around Frisco

I’ve already prepared a photowalk in Frisco a long time ago, but after the whole Covid situation and the Walkin Death series, I decided to process the photos a little differently to give a little dark atmosphere. During the photowalk we could go through the new Frisco warehouse which is just getting started, so it is still a bit empty, but there are a few technical curiosities such as special conveyor belts, automatic racks and robots sorting orders.

Automation in Frisco

In the Frisco warehouse there is a huge machine that is something like shelves with goods that are operated by robots. There is no access for people, and everything happens automatically so as to download the appropriate boxes with products that are sent to employees who have to add them to the order. The employee only takes the products he sees on the screen, and the machine takes care of all the logistics on special belts. Cosmos.

Out of curiosity, I will ask. Would you like to get such a present as with these photos, or others that I use in my photos? Write about it in the comments.

  1. What is the concept behind Photowalks, and how does it combine the elements of walking and photography? How are these events organized, and who typically participates in them? Are there specific locations or themes for these photowalks, and how are they chosen? How do partners contribute to these events, particularly in terms of providing photographic equipment for participants to test? Can you provide examples of some unique or interesting places that participants of Photowalks have had the opportunity to visit and photograph?

    • Photowalks are unique photographic outings that combine walking with capturing images in intriguing locations. Various groups organize these events, aiming not only to select a compelling theme but also to gain access to places typically off-limits to the public. Thanks to this, I had the opportunity to photograph exceptional sites such as the Warsaw tram depots and the PKN Orlen petrochemical plant in Płock. Unfortunately, not all my photos from these walks are available online yet, but I hope to update them on my blog soon.
